Power of Youth !

With power comes responsibility; with absolute power comes absolute responsibility.
The most important pre-requisite for the youth to have power is to develop personal power. Sadly no one teaches us as to how to develop this power. The first step in this direction is to have Mind, Deed and Words (Man, Karm, Wachan) aligned to the Truth. Integrity and Honesty are two essential ingredients. Initially the mind, which is like a stray dog, has to be tamed. It has to be lured to be trained. By becoming an observer, one has to be aware of the thoughts that cross the mind. Each thought has to be weighed on the mind scale. Only positive thoughts have to be entertained and negative barred any entry. It has been found that every positive thought generates 10-15 similar positive thoughts where as a single negative thought replicates into hundreds of negative thoughts. The easiest way to control the mind is to have present moment awareness. When the Master is at home the thief does not enter. Similarly when we are present in the moment, not regretting the past or being anxious about our future, we are able to observe our thoughts.
We all are bound to our Karmas and to the fruits of it. Our Karmas should be aligned to our purpose in Life. The purpose of life is to have a life of purpose. How to find purpose in Life? Please do this exercise…..
Write down the answers of the following questions.
Q1. Who am I ?
Q2. What do I want from life ?
Q3. What do I want from life today ?
After doing this exercise for a couple of days you will find your purpose in life. Thereafter all your actions will either take you closer to your purpose or away from it. Your Buddhi or your intellect will guide you which actions to perform.

Your Wachan or your words are your hallmark. Please choose your words correctly. Learn to speak well or not to speak at all. It is said words once said cannot be retraced. In Mahabharat, Duryodhan slipped on the glass floor. Draupadi mocked at him saying, “ the son of a blind man shall remain blind.” This episode resulted in the battle between Kauravas and Pandavas.
Words have a magical way of manifesting themselves. Whatever you say is bound to come true one time or the other. We make or break our careers and relationships with our words. Look at your life, your career or your relationship. You are where you are because some time in your past you said that you will be there.
Words are also your commitment. Once you have given your word, honour your commitment. In the past people have laid down their lives to honour their words. Arjuna had married Draupadi. When he was introducing her to Kunti without looking at her she asked him to distribute amongst his brothers. To honour her words, all the five Pandavas took Draupadi as their wife.

A man of power being humble is also frugal with his words. He is both mridubhasi and mitbhasi i.e. he speaks less and is sweet-tongued. Gandhijee used to keep vow of silence or Maun-Vrata once in a week. That is how his words had the power to move millions. The following couplets are still as relevant as they were in the ancient days:
Aisi Wani Boliye Man ka Aapa Khoye
Auron ko Sheetal kare Aaphu sheetal hoe

Bade Badai na Karen Bade na Bole Bol
Rahiman Heera Kab Kahe Lakh Taka Mera Mol

Thus following these steps power will be bestowed upon you. Only when you have attained power over yourself, you can exercise it over others and it will remain till the time you are humble and use it wisely.
